Waste days and read good books

I will give you what you are too scared to ask for.

Walking side by side,
I dare to brush my cold hand
Against yours,
Sending electric shocks
Throughout my body.
A snowflake lands on your eyelashes,
Shadowing you
Every time you blink.
Your laugh shoots shivers down my spine,
Craving to hear it again.
You know what is important to me.
I will tell you my secrets
Some day.
After countless battles with trust,
I find it hard to give parts
Of myself to others.
But with you, I just know.

Balancing act

Karma karma karma... now I have learned to use it to my advantage. Friday was not so great at the start, but my friends know me well enough to pick me back up and give me just what I need to get past things. I owe them one. Or is this them returning the favor? If so, for what?
As far as I know, I'm going to continue doing what I'm doing.
And keep searching for a legitimately good quality scary movie.
Happy 3-month birthday, blog!

Somatosense

Well. I'm not going. I'm home for the weekend... yay?
Although I will probably going back next weekend.
We'll see.
The future awaits.

Lesson learned

And in the best possible way. You know how back in January I mentioned how things turned around for me? Well the lesson I have learned is that you need to not only have faith, but you need to keep that faith, because no matter what things will turn around. My sister once told me you get what you give, and to keep that in mind all the time.
In the past, I have complained about various topics and claimed I have been "broken," or whatever, but now I see that as a simple step to getting to where I want to be; where I am now. Get past the people you can't trust, and you will see there were people you could trust there all along. If you don't give up on something you love, it will turn around for the better, and the favor will be returned.

Alright, I do realize this is different from the stuff I usually write, but I had an average day until one thing after another turned around and I got a whopping dose of wonderful karma. I want people to be able to be as happy as I am right now, so this is my advice for you.

Maybe karma's a bitch, but it's the best bitch I know.

Dienstag; Tuesday tellings, week 1

Hello Tuesday. I really like Tuesdays. And after realizing my friend posts quotes every day, I have decided to post a secret every week. I thought about doing this every day, but then I would run out of secrets, and I would be left with no mystery. Yes, I do realize my blog is partially named "no mystery to me," but that is more about not holding back. I want a little bit of mystery in me; I like surprising people.
So. My secret for today is that I absolutely cannot stand eating in front of people. All my life I have been constantly ridiculed for my eating habits and my lack of variety in my diet; honestly, I blame it on my parents. They worked all the time and babysitter only cooked simple foods for me. There are very few people I can eat comfortably around, and I am not afraid to tell you if you are one of them. Think of it as a little acceptance ritual.

That's my secret for you. Some will be very serious, some funny, some will be the first time I am even admitting them to myself.
It's the little things that truly matter, at least to me.
Trust me, I notice.

I remember the first time we
Spoke.
It was an accident.
I didn't even know you had my number.
In fact, we did not speak.
Simply a typed up
Message,
Composed by distracted thumbs
As I mustered an apology
That she stole my
Phone.
Surprisingly, you carried on with the conversation,
Leaving me dumbfounded,
Crafting clever responses after several
Minutes of thinking.
You read my writing,
Or so you have
Told
Me; I am not sure I have ever told you how
Reassuring that is, that someone still
Looks forward to reading something
I have done.
Maybe I have not told you thank you,
Or maybe I have,
Buried beneath your
Apologies.
But do not be sorry.
You are honest,
And that is all I really need.

Quantity, not quality...

...right? At least. That's what I've been told. Sometimes.

It's kind of hard when you put your heart and soul into something, but you don't get anything back.
But sometimes you get little things back in the most unexpected places and times. Don't know what I'm talking about? Ask.

Today I wrote some real poetry. I haven't written a poem in a really long time, although I guess you can call anything a poem. Read, judge, do whatever you want. That's what writing is. It's freedom.

You were driving.
We didn't really have anywhere to go,
But you were driving.
I looked at you.
We were at a stoplight.
You kissed me, and after that I silently wished for a red light every time,
Even just a deserted stop sign.
The warmth of your lips
Reminded me of hot chocolate,
Bathing in my mouth
After a blisteringly cold walk in the morning.
You pulled away
And focused on the road.
I bit my lip,
Wondering if you would let it happen again.
But you did,
Kissing me impulsively
And resting your gentle hand
On the rip in my jeans
That barely exposes my knee.
Your finger tips shot lightning bolts
All the way to my toes.
You pulled away again,
Hiding the smile I can detect in your eyes,
But there is mystery behind it.
You gripped the steering wheel.
Glancing out of the corner of my eye,
I notice a line running down
The very same forearm
That placed the hand on my knee.
The very same line
That shows your indefinite grip on the wheel.
Slowly,
Reluctantly,
I reach out
And trace the line.
You steal a look at me
For just a second,
And we lock eyes.
Your eyes hold
Mystery, questioning.
I would rather leave it a mystery.

The Buried Life

You could say it's an obsession with a tv show - which for me does not happen often - but I would say it's inspiration. I have constantly read books and watched movies about accomplishing things before you die but I have never really thought about it. Today, however, I did think about it. I made a list, and I plan on adding onto it. Technicality

I was asked to write about the light coming through my window. This is what I wrote, completely unedited. Think whatever you want.

One blind down and the other up, allowing just enough light to bleed into my room so I do not need a lamp on.
Just because there is light does not mean there is sun.
The sun hibernates behind tired clouds, longing to give life to the ground below.
But for now we must survive with old snow crunching beneath our feet, teasing us by melting, only to come back the next night, surprising us in the morning when the old man next door makes his daily trip outside to retrieve his bible; the daily newspaper.
I can see the sun clawing to get away from its barrier of clouds, but I cannot look for too long or else it will hurt my eyes.

Even if your faith is broken,

Do it with a heart wide open.

Guitar strings and silly things
Take two; I'll stick to you like glue
Make me smile,
I can stay for a while.

Some girls are so drunk on love

I don't really know what to say for today. But I'm happy. So that's all that matters.

Desire.

Sudden alterations make for major altercations

I really do believe that I am happier in warm weather. It's not that I don't like snow - despite the number of times I say I do - but there's just something about the atmosphere that makes me more relaxed. Tomorrow night I return home and I'm going to come back to school much more optimistic. Even over the obstacles...

Lightning strikes
Inside, my chest to keep me up at night
Dream of ways
To make you understand my pain

Clouds of sulfur in the air
Bombs are falling everywhere
It's heartbreak warfare
Once you want it to begin,
No one really every wins
In heartbreak warfare

If you want more love,
why don't you say so?
If you want more love,
why don't you say so?

Drop his name
Push it in and twist the knife again
Watch my face
As I pretend to feel no pain

Clouds of sulfur in the air
Bombs are falling everywhere
It's heartbreak warfare
Once you want it to begin,
No one really ever wins
In heartbreak warfare.

If you want more love,
why don't you say so?
If you want more love,
why don't you say so?

Just say so...

How come the only way to know how high you get me
is to see how far I fall
God only knows how much I'd love you if you let me
but I can't break free at all.

It's a heartbreak...

I don't care if we don't sleep at all tonight
Let's just fix this whole thing now
I swear to God we're gonna get it right
If you put your weapons down
Red wine and
ambient
You're talking shit again, it's heartbreak warfare
Good to know it's all a game
Disappointment has a name, it's heartbreak warfare.

I'm in Miami triiick.

Well. I was. But sorry if I don't post every day, I don't have my own computer down here. However, once I get home I'm going to post double to make up for it! I've been doing a lot of writing here. I'll leave you with a quote, because my friend likes quotes.

"Every minute we change - it is a great opportunity. At any point, we can step out of our frozen selves and our ideas and begin fresh." -Natalie Goldberg

Valentine's Day..?

"I believe in poetry as a way of surviving the emotional chaos, spiritual confusions, and traumatic events that come with being alive.
When I was twelve years old, I was responsible for the death of my younger brother in a hunting accident. I held the rifle that killed him. In a single moment, my world changed forever. I felt grief, terror, shame, and despair more deeply than I could ever have imagined. In the aftermath, no one in my shattered family could speak to me about my brother's death, and their silence left me alone with all my agonizing emotions. And under those emotions, something even more terrible: a knowledge that all the easy meanings I had lived by until then had been suddenly and utterly abolished.
One consequence of traumatic violence is that it isolates its victims. It can cut us off from other people, cutting us off from our own emotional lives until we go numb and move through the world as if only half alive. As a young person, I found something to set against my growing sense of isolation and numbness: the making of poems.
When I write a poem, I process experience. I take what's inside me - the raw, chaotic material of feeling or memory - and translate it into words and then shape those words into the rhythmical language we call a poem. This process brings me a kind of wild joy. Before, I was powerless and passive in the face of my confusion, but now I am active: the powerful shaper of my experience. I am transforming it into a lucid meaning.
Because poems are meanings, and even the saddest poem I write is proof that I want to survive. And therefore it represents an affirmation of life in all its complexities and contradictions.
An additional miracle comes to me as the maker of poems: Because poems can be shared between poet and audience, they also become a further triumph over human isolation.
Whenever I read a poem that moves me, I know I'm not alone in the world. I feel a connection to the person who wrote it, knowing that he or she has gone through something similar to what I've experienced, or felt something like what I have felt. And their poem gives me hope and courage, because I know that they survived, that their life force was strong enough to turn experience into words and shape it into meaning and then bring it toward me to share. The gift of their poem enters deeply into me and helps me live and believe in living."
